If you are a smoker and have tried to quit the smoking habit, you are not alone.Nearly 7 in 10 smokers say they want to stop. Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health. Smoking harms almost every organ in the body, including the heart. Nearly a third of deaths from heart disease are the result of smoking or passive smoking.
You may be tempted to turn to e-cigarettes (e-cigarettes, vape pens and other vapedevices) as a way to facilitate the transition from traditional cigarettes to quitting. But is smoking e-cigarettes also called vaping or inhaling water vapor through a vaporizer better for you than using traditional tobacco products? Can e-cigarettes help you stop smoking?
The five main facts about e-cigarettes or vaping are:
1. Vaping is less harmful than smoking
E-cigarettes heat nicotine (derived from tobacco) enriched with air fresheners and other chemicals to create water vapor that you inhale through an evaporator device. Traditional tobacco cigarettes contain a variety of chemicals, many of which are toxic. Although it is not known exactly what the chemicals are in e-cigarettes research indicates that they are a source of toxic chemicals.
However, it is important to clarify that IQ Vape products do not contain an ounce of nicotine!
It is recommendedthat:
- Do not use THC-containing electronic cigarettes or vaping products
- Avoid using information from unofficial sources to obtain a vaping device
- Do not modify the vaping device with the addition of substances not intended and permitted by the manufacturer
2. Research suggests vaping is harmful to the heart and lungs
Nicotine is a major agent in both types of cigarettes – traditional and electronic and is very addictive. It challenges you to crave smoking and to suffer in the absence of struggling with desire. Nicotine is also a toxic substance. It increases blood pressure and stimulates the release of adrenaline, which increases heart rate and the likelihood of a heart attack. There are many unknowns about vaping, including exactly what chemicals enter the composition of fumes and how they affect physical health over time. You should understand that e-cigarettes are potentially dangerous to your health. Research results indicate a link with chronic lung diseases, asthma and cardiovascular disease.
3. E-cigarettes are just as addictive as traditional cigarettes
Research suggests that nicotine in both regular and e-cigarettes may be just as addictive as heroin and cocaine. Worse, many e-cigarette users get even more nicotine than they would get from tobacco products – you can buy cartridges with extra strength that have a higher concentration of nicotine, or you can increase the tension of the electronic cigarette to get a bigger hit on the substance.
Burns with a vape device are rare, but can be serious. Especially if the device ignites while in the owner's pocket.
Unlike e-cigarettes, e-hookahs like IQ Vape do not lead to addiction.
4. E-cigarettes are not the best means to stop smoking
Despite being marketed as an aid to quitting smoking, e-cigarettes have not received approval as smoking cessation devices. A study has found that most people who intend to use e-cigarettes to eradicate the nicotine habit end up continuing to smoke both traditional and e-cigarettes. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) advises adults who use e-cigarettes to quit smoking to weigh the risks and benefits and consider using other approved methods and ways to quit smoking.
5. Teens – the adolescent generation becomes addicted to nicotine
Among young e-cigarettes are more popular than any traditional tobacco product. There are three reasons e-cigarettes are particularly tempting for young people.
- Many teens think vaping is less harmful than smoking
- E-cigarettes have a lower price than traditional cigarettes
- Evaporators are often enriched with fruity flavours that are liked by younger consumers
Both young people and adults find the lack of smoke attractive. Odorless e-cigarettes stand out in the face of smoking. Vaping and e-cigarettes are sometimes promoted as ways to help smokers quit smoking. But this often leads to the use of traditional tobacco products in the following.
